This page provides a brief orientation to the study of Presidential Rhetoric with links to texts and bibliographies at the RhetoricalGoddess.

Introduction Edit

Presidential Rhetoric includes both presidential campaigns and legislative speeches. The office of the President goes to the heart of the American system of government. It was an invention of the Constitutional Convention, and rather than being the equivalent of a modern prime minister in the parliamentary system, it was designed to replace the monarchs of the 18th century with a democratic alternative.
